Ḵaa Yahaayí Shkalneegi Muriel Reid is a X’aaka Hít Kiks.ádi Lingít from Sheet’ká and a grandchild of the Ch’áak’ Kúdi Hít Kaagwaantaan. He specializes in portraiture and photo-based storytelling with the goal of supporting ongoing stories of growth, healing, and perseverance. His name means photostory in Lingít.

Portraits start at $175: up to two people, up to one hour. Inquire for a quote on additional hours and/or people. Open to trades.

Questions to Ask Yourself Before a Portrait Session:
How will these photos be used? Does that affect how I want the photos to be framed, posed, or edited?
What moods(s) do I want my portraits to have? Would it be easiest to convey that mood in certain attire, makeup, or locations?
When do I feel most comfortable in front of the camera? Posed or unposed? With friends or alone?
Will my photoshoot include getting in the water, getting dirty, or getting cold? Should I pack layers or a change of clothes?
What clothing do I feel good in? How can I utilize my outfit to add texture, dimension, or personality to the images?
Am I comfortable with photos from this session being shared online? Do I want to approve each photo or the whole gallery?
Where will I store the digital images? How will I ensure that I do not lose them?
If you do not like the pictures we are taking, we can always move in a different direction during the session.
